AMMAN — The Ministry of Public Works and Housing and the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) on Sunday signed two quality control cooperation agreements, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Under the agreements, the RSS will provide technical services to the ministry in the control of quality for construction materials and products of stone crushers and quarries.

The RSS will also administrate lab tests and provide technical consultation to guarantee the
quality of the material.

HRH Princess Sumaya, RSS president, and Public Works Minister Sami Halaseh attended the signing ceremony.

Princess Sumaya highlighted the importance of the agreements in maintaining public safety in the construction sector, through the quality control of all ongoing construction projects as well as the products of stone crushers and quarries.

The princess said that the RSS will contribute to developing the construction sector in cooperation with the ministry, and noted that the cooperation will enhance confidence in the quality of projects implemented by the ministry.

For his part, Halaseh commended a cooperation that will lead to “more achievements” and strengthen the infrastructure of the ministry’s projects.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the princess honoured engineer Malek Alwan, an RSS employee in the sustainable construction and building centre, for winning the best research award from the Arab League.

Alwan’s paper, titled “Urban development guarantees sustainable development” won the council of Arab housing ministers’ award in 2016.
